You cant go back and change the beginning , but we can start where we are and change the ending - C,S Lewis
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, and is a sophisticated, psychological processor for treating trauma and PTSD. EMDR was originally developed in California between 1987 and 1991 by Dr Francine Shapiro and is one of the most widely researched methods for working with psychological trauma and PTSD. EMDR is recommended by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE). EMDR is applied to people who have experienced war related trauma, sexual assault, surgical trauma, car accidents and is now being used to help people with phobias, pain management and many other issues such as depression and anxiety.
The beauty of EMDR is that you are working with neural memory networks and receiving new organic information during the process.
EMDR activates the bilateral stimulation of the brain, (activating both hemispheres) through the use of eye movements, or tapping. When this is applied alongside the sequenced 8 phases, people are able to process the negative cognition's, intense emotions and physical sensations which were embedded from the traumatic event.
